This Web page is a collaborative project between Heartland Area Education Agency 11 and the Central Iowa Library Service Area and is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act as administered by the State Library of Iowa.
This Web page provides 360-degree photographs and movies of school and public libraries, and information about the library programs to help librarians, administrators, designers, and architects during the planning and building process. The Web site can be used when developing a remodeling or construction plan, or when doing a space planning review. It provides information on "what works" in libraries, before and after photos/video of construction and remodeling projects, and information on remodeling and construction in relation to library programs, services, and best practice.
It is meant to support librarians, administrators, architects and designers, boards of education, and public library boards as they make important decisions on library facilities, services, and programs. You can view the Web site then decide which facilities to visit in person. More libraries can be visited virtually than time and money would allow for a visit in person. It also tells the story about what's new and how other libraries have solved facilities problems.
The State Library of Iowa is required by law to collect, analyze, and disseminate information and statistics on school libraries and public libraries. The library program information and 360-degree photographs and movies on the Web site will help school librarians, public librarians, board members, city and school administrators, and the general public understand the connections among the statistics required by law and the facilities, programs, and services for which they are responsible.
